| GENERAL HOUSEHOLD CLEANERS 1 tablespoon ammonia 1 tablespoon liquid dish detergent 2 cups water Mix together and use in spray bottle for touch ups. WALL CLEANER 1 gallon hot water 1 cup ammonia ½ cup white vinegar ¼ cup baking soda Mix ingredients. Wash small areas at a time and rinse off with clear water. This cleans badly soiled painted surfaces. OUTDOOR WINDOW CLEANER ½ gallon warm water 2/3 tablespoon laundry or dishwasher detergent 1 tablespoon liquid "Jet dry" or other dishwasher wetting agent Mix ingredients and sponge on window. Immediately hose off. Water will sheet off, no drying is necessary. Caution: Be sure windows are tightly closed. WINDOW CLEANER 1 pint rubbing alcohol 1 tablespoon ammonia 1 tablespoon liquid detergent Put ingredients in a gallon container and fill with water. Use on windows and mirrors. It prevents steaming and freezing. FURNITURE BEAUTY TREATMENTS 3 tablespoons boiled linseed oil (Buy it as such, don't try to boil it yourself) 1 tablespoon turpentine 1 quart hot water Mix ingredients in two quart can or top of old double boiler. Place over hot water until mixture is as warm as the gloved hand can stand. For best results keep mixture hot while using. To use: Dip a soft, clean cloth into the solution. Lift out and squeeze until it does not drip. Each dip will cover an area of about one to two feet. keep on re-dipping cloth as needed until area is clean. Follow immediately with a clean, dry, absorbent cloth until all oil is removed. Linseed oil allowed to remain on wood will become tacky. Continue until piece is done. Solution cleans wood and protects finish. DUSTING CLOTHS 1 tablespoon mild soap powder 1 quart warm water 1 tablespoon ammonia 2 tablespoons boiled linseed oil or a good furniture polish Mix ingredients well. Dip soft cotton cloth into solution. After a few minutes, squeeze out. Dry and store rag in a covered glass, plastic or tin container. Treat cloths after each washing. CARPET CLEANER 1 teaspoon mild detergent 1 teaspoon white vinegar 1 quart warm water Mix ingredients and apply with a clean cloth, using only amount of cleaning solution you need. Be careful not to soak the carpet through and always absorb excess liquid with a clean rag. |
