| LEFTOVER STEW OR BOILED VEGETABLES Make Hash: Grind leftover carrots, leftover boiled potatoes, fresh or cooked celery, ground onions and ground leftover roast. Mix together. (Cooked roast or stew meat works best but you can also use leftover ham.) Steam hash in a heavy kettle with a small amount of oil on low heat until onions are tender and mixture is heated thoroughly and slightly browned on the bottom. Serve hot with a little chili sauce or ketsup. You can also add smashed vegetables such as cooked carrots, potatoes, onion, or celery to bread dough. Grind vegetables in a blender until very fine. Pour into bread dough in place of some of the liquid. A small amount of cooked vegetables add a fun and unique flavor to bread. |
