CHOCOLATE FUDGE FROSTING

1 ½ cups white sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
¼ cup butter or margarine
¼ cup canned milk
Powdered sugar
In a heavy saucepan combine ingredients. Stirring constantly, cook slowly over medium-low heat to the soft ball stage.

Remove pan from heat and pour into a mixing bowl. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring. Beat on high speed with electric mixer, adding small amounts of powdered sugar a tablespoon at a time along with one additional tablespoon of soft butter or margarine. Continue beating until fudge is light and fluffy.

Note: Soft ball stage is when a small amount of the mixture dropped into a glass of cold water forms a soft chewy ball that doesn’t break apart when stirred.
