I once asked a group of friends,"What was the biggest disaster you ever experienced while cooking?" This brought giggles and stories of dropped turkeys, spilled gravy and hockey puck rolls but the funniest event was relayed by a woman known to be an excellent cook. In a rush to prepare dinner, she grabbed the yellow soda box instead of the yellow cornstarch box. When she stirred ¼ cup baking soda into a batch of pie filling, sticky bubbles consumed the surface of the stove, counter top and a goodly portion of her newly installed wooden floors. Disasters do happen - even to good cooks. Simply toss it out and start over. |
