REFRIGERATOR COOKIES

1 ¾ cups white flour
1 cup white sugar
¾ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground mace
¾ cup vegetable shortening
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 1/3 cup nuts

Sift dry ingredients together. Chop in shortening and butter using a pastry blender or two butter knives crisscrossed together until the shortening is reduced to the size of coarse crumbs. Blend in eggs and nuts.

Divide dough into two rolls about 2 ½ inches in diameter and roll in waxed paper. Refrigerate until dough has chilled, about 2 hours.

Slice cookies with a knife about 1/3 of an inch thick and place on an un-greased cookie sheet.

Bake 375 F for 8 to 10 minutes.
