| JAM COOKIES Preheat oven to 350 F. Recipe requires two lightly greased 12x18 inch cookie sheets. 1 cup vegetable shortening 2 cups jam, any kind of fruit 2 eggs, beaten 2 teaspoons vanilla 1 teaspoon salt 2 teaspoons baking soda 4 cups white flour 1 cup walnuts, chopped 1 ½ cups chocolate chips In a large bowl, cream shortening, jam, eggs and vanilla together. Combine flour, salt and soda and add to creamed mixture. Stir in nuts and chips. Mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheets. Bake for 15 minutes or until golden around the edges. Makes 3 dozen large soft cookies. |
