| YELLOW CAKE Preheat oven to 350 F. Recipe requires two greased and floured 9 inch round cake pans. 2 cups white flour 2 ½ teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt ½ cup vegetable shortening 2 eggs 1 cup white sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 1 cup milk In a medium-sized mixing bowl, sift flour, baking powder and salt together. In a separate large bowl, beat shortening, eggs, sugar and vanilla until creamy. Gradually stir milk alternately with dry ingredients into egg mixture. Mix thoroughly and pour into cake pans. Bake for 30 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly with your finger on the top. Allow cake to cool before frosting. |
