| MOM’S HONEY CAKE Preheat oven to 350 F. Recipe requires one greased and floured 9 x 13 inch cake. 4 eggs 1 cup honey 2 cups brown sugar, packed 1 cup vegetable shortening 2 teaspoons baking soda 4 cups plus 2 rounded tablespoons sifted whole wheat flour ½ teaspoon salt 2 rounded teaspoons ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg ½ teaspoon ground allspice In a large mixing bowl cream eggs, honey, sugar, and shortening together. Add dry ingredients and mix well making sure soda is evenly distributed. Bake for 30 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly. |
