CHOCOLATE CAKE
Wonderful very old recipe!

Preheat oven to 400 F.
Recipe requires one greased and floured 9 X 13 inch cake pan.

2 cups white sugar
2 cups white flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
4 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 cup butter, melted
2 eggs
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla
½ cup buttermilk

Combine sugar, flour, soda, and cocoa together in a large bowl. Add melted butter, eggs, water, vanilla and buttermilk. Stir by hand until all the lumps have disappeared.

Pour into cake pan and bake 25 minutes or until cake springs back when touched lightly in the center with your finger.
Frosting:

1 pound powdered sugar
1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, room temperature
½ cup butter, room temperature
1 tablespoon cocoa

Beat all ingredients together with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Allow cake to cool before frosting.
