| APPLESAUCE CAKE Preheat oven to 350 F. Recipe requires one greased and floured 9 x 13 inch cake pan. 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 eggs ¾ cup shortening or butter 1 ½ cup white sugar 1 ½ cups applesauce 1 ½ teaspoon baking soda ½ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon ¼ teaspoon ground cloves ¼ teaspoon ground allspice 3 cups white flour In a large bowl, beat vanilla, eggs, shortening and sugar together until light and creamy. Add applesauce and mix thoroughly. Sift dry ingredients together. Stir all at once into wet ingredients. Mix until all the flour is absorbed into batter. Pour batter into cake pan and bake for 40 minutes or until top springs back when touched lightly in the middle. |
