BANANA BREAD

Preheat oven to 350 F
Recipe requires one 9” or two 8” greased and floured loaf pans

1 ½ cups white sugar
½ cup soft vegetable shortening
2 cups white flour
½ cup walnuts, chopped
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 eggs
4 tablespoons butter milk; or 3 tablespoons milk and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar 1 cup ripe banana mashed with a fork 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon baking powder

In a large bowl, beat wet ingredients together. Stir in dry ingredients all at once and mix thoroughly. Pour batter into loaf pans to about 2/3 from the top. Bake 60 minutes.

The cake tests done when loaf pulls slightly away from the sides
of the pan and springs back when touched lightly on the top.
